centennial of licensed women pilots

The Centennial of Women Pilots campaign participants are inbound to Airventure 2010

EAA has graciously granted us the opportunity to share our story with the rest of the world at Oshkosh's Airventure 2010. We will meet to present our accomplishments and our goals in the Vette Theater at the Museum's Lower Level on Friday, July 30, at 10 AM. For more information, visit Airventure's website.

Maryse Carmichael takes command of the Canadian Snowbirds in the year of the Centennial of Women Pilots

On May 6 2010, Maryse Carmichael, who flew with the Snowbirds in 2001 and 2002, will assume command of the squadron in the year of the Centennial of Licensed Women Pilots.

Born in Quebec City, Maryse became an Air Cadet at 13 and got her pilot's license when she was still a teenager. After joining the Air Force and completing her training, she had a distinguished career before becoming the first woman to be part of the Snowbirds precision flying team and will now command it.

"My advice to other women is to move forward and don’t be afraid." said Maryse.

Congratulations!
