International Women’s Day, a pilot’s way

“If you have flown, perhaps you can understand the love a pilot develops for flight. It is much the same emotion a man feels for a woman, or a wife for her husband.” Louise Thaden, co-founder of the Ninety-Nines

For all the women who have discovered the love for flight, there is only one way to celebrate Women’s Day: go to the airport, greet their favorite aircraft, and fly. Women pilots are first pilots and, as such, they will use any excuses to do what pilots do, fly.

Women’s Day and the Centennial of Licensed Women Pilots are sensible and plausible excuses. Moreover, the excuse gets better when it is attached to a goal such as participating to a worldwide flying record.

On March 8 2010 or anytime from March 6 to March 12, play cupid. Introduce a woman to aviation and watch her fall in love with flying.
